I’m looking to get Lasik done in the next year…my vision is fairly decent … – .79 is my worst eye… anyone know what the average price should be around for custom lasik? I’m in the NE ohio region if that helps. The people I’ve spoken with have all had terrible vision so I’m wondering if it helps that mine is not.
My eyesight wasn’t nearly as bad as most who wear glasses, but bad enough to hinder me in a lot of the active activities I participate in. I think I heard about LASIK when I was in high school or college, and as soon as I heard about it wanted it. My mom actually got her eyes done (much worse than mine) right about 4 years ago and IMMEDIATELY raved about the results. This really didn’t do anything to help other than making me want to do it even more. I had a consult about 18 months back but it turned out the cost was going to be half again as much as I thought and was prepared to pay. So, after waiting and shrugging it off, I found out about 6 weeks ago that the price had been dropped dramatically due to the country’s current economic state. That was all I needed! I went back for my evaluation, had to get an extra test done due to an extreme asymmetrical stigmatism (sp?) and everything came back great. The hardest part was waiting the two weeks I had to after scheduling it. Anyway, the vid is pretty much self explanatory. Hopefully you can make it through and see what it’s all about. And yes, I really did feel nothing.
I really dont know a whole lot about the surgery, however it seems like a dream come true!
I do have an astigmatism in both eyes and my rx is -3.75 and -3.50 and actually got a little better this last check up.
I just want some information, some experience stories, or just anything you’d like to add
thanks

I’ve been wearing glasses since forever. Recently I’ve been thinking about getting Lasik for my eyes. I’m a bit scared that it’ll have all kinds of side effects. I’m 30 something. I’m mostly doing it for convenient. I’m just so sick of wearing glasses. Not only I can’t see my "real" face, I just hate to depend my glasses so much. My dad used to call me "handicap" when I needed glasses at 10…
I am seventeen and have terrible vision with a very rare astigmatism. I live in northern Texas so I’m not positive what the price would be.
The cost of my contacts and glasses are really a hassle because my astigmatism is so rare. My contacts actually run around 0.00 every three months!
So if anyone could inform me AT ALL. I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks (:
I recently won a raffle for a free laser surgery, they are sending me a certificate for 00. I’m pretty sure that it is going to cost more than that for both eyes. I know is is more expensive the worse your vision. I have -5.15 apx. in both eyes, no Astigmitism. Can anyone tell me how much it cost you? Please no, ”… I’d guess its about $xxx…” and I’m not going to fly to India to have it done. Thanks in advance to all of you who help.
I know to research the place and check it out before I commit to anything. I’ve looked online for costs, but everything I find says I’d need a consultation. I have one scheduled with this place on July 12th, and I’d like to have an idea before going in. I just want a ball- park number from people who have had it done.
LASIK no longer has an advantage over Staar’s Visian ICL (Intraocular Contact Lens). Nearly half of the ICL’s inserted in the US are now being done bilaterally. Convenience and cost control couples with safety making the ICL the latest alternative to LASIK, SBK, and Epi-LASIK. The Staar Collamer Phakic Implant corrects 3 to 16 diopters of nearsightedness with an almost instant return of stable, sharp, clear vision. James Lewis, MD, of the Wills Eye Surgical Network and The Pennsylvania College of Optometry, narrates and performs this surgery. Originally the ICL was considered for patients not suitable for LASIK. It is now considered an alternative that may be better than LASIK for many. There are less halos, starbursts and glare and absolutely no dry eye, regression or corneal issues after surgery. Dr. Lewis uses the Zeiss Visante⢠(OCT: Optical Coherence Tomographer) to assess the patients both pre and post-operatively.
